On Saturday July 20th, the White Swan, Wighill will be hosting a Classical ‘Prom in the Park’ event, featuring performances from locals with international talent.
New Hosts John & Di have brought new life into the village by running a series of events across the year. Not only has it got local villagers back engaged, but it is now attracting visitors from far and wide.
The event will feature talented local artists, such as Suzi Saperia (soprano soloist). The Yorkshire born Suzi has performed with a number of ensembles including The University of Manchester Chamber Choir ‘Ad Solem’, with whom she appeared on the BBC’s Songs of Praise in 2007
Angelina Warburton (Harpist) who lives in York and had the pleasure of playing at the Royal Opera House for Prince Charles’ 60th Birthday
Also, Cascada Strings, a vibrant string quartet also from York. Guests will be in their Best bib and tucker and pretty gowns with plenty of picnics & prosecco!
The Program will include a classical repertoire catering for everyone’s taste and finishing off with some old favourites like Rule Britannia, Jerusalem, Land of Hope & Glory and The National Anthem. It is John & Di’s intention for this to become an annual event together with a full and varied calendar throughout the year. So, come and visit Wighills favourite eating and drinking establishment
