Tadcaster mums tackle Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge to raise £2k for local primary school

Riverside School will use the funds for equipment for the library and music studio

A dedicated group of mothers from Riverside School in Tadcaster have successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, raising more than £2,000 that will go towards enhancing the learning environment of the school.

The gruelling challenge saw a team of 11 mums overcome the changeable weather to tackle the 24-mile route across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.

The funds raised will go now go towards a touch screen monitor for the music studio and a comfortable sofa for the library.

Nick Styles, Headteacher at Riverside, expressed his appreciation for their efforts, saying: “We are hugely grateful to the mums who undertook the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.

“Their incredible effort will help to foster a better learning environment for our children, significantly enhancing our music learning facilities and adding comfort to our library with a new touch screen monitor and sofa.”

This fundraising event is part of Riverside School’s broader strategy to continually improve educational facilities and outcomes. The new touch screen monitor will enhance interactive learning in music classes, while the cozy new sofa will make the library a more appealing place for students to engage with books and learning.

The school is thankful to all who supported this successful initiative, reflecting a strong commitment to improving educational facilities and supporting the school’s mission to provide a nurturing and effective learning environment.

Speaking on behalf of the group one of the event’s organisers, Katie, Eccles, said: “We are all passionate about our children’s education and know how stretched the budget is for schools. We wanted to support the school and enhance the learning of our children and that of future pupils. It was a very difficult but rewarding challenge which we are all very proud of completing.”

Anyone wanting to donate to the group’s efforts can do so via the JustGiving page here.

Riverside School forms part of the Star Multi Academy Trust which is made up of eleven schools located across North Yorkshire.

Established in 2018, the trust’s aim is to create outstanding education within its academies to enable every young person to realise their full potential.
