Local leisure centre nominated for ‘Best Small Gym’ at Minster FM’s Listener Choice Awards 2018

Tadcaster Leisure Centre has been shortlisted for ‘Best Small Gym’ at this year’s Listener Choice Awards at Minster FM.

The Listener Choice Awards recognises businesses and organisations that make a real difference to people in the Minster FM area. There are no judges, the winners are chosen by votes gathered from Minster FM’s listeners.

Andy Sim, the assistant manager of Tadcaster Leisure Centre, says: “To be shortlisted in the small gym category is amazing and proves what a pillar of our community Tadcaster Leisure Centre is.

“The team here is small but our aim is to enrich the lives of our locality through what we do at the centre and through our community based wellbeing team.  We really do aim to inspire the community to live happier and healthier lifestyles.”

Tadcaster Leisure Centre aim to offer a warm and friendly environment where you can access gym facilities and their knowledgable fitness team will guide you through your fitness journey. Holding over 50 exercise classes per week such as pilates, yoga, body pump and Zumba, you are bound to find something to suit your fitness level and meet new people along the way. Members also have access to the local swimming pool.

The leisure centre runs adult weight management sessions, doctors referral schemes, cardiac rehab and falls prevention programmes.

Andy continues: “We feel we offer our members real choice when it comes to improving their fitness.

“Our wellbeing team aim to be the bridge that allows all members of our community to improve their health through the programmes we offer. We feel we give the full warp around care that our community needs and really deserves.”

The leisure centre also regularly runs events for charity such as a Yogathon in aid of suicide awareness charity CALM, Total Warrior, and a Wheels of Warrior challenge which involved a two hour indoor cycling marathon in aid of Cancer Research.

Voting is now open to place your vote for this years nominees and closes on Sunday 11 November. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 13 November at York Barbican.
