Hypnobirthing awareness

A South Milford local is doing her bit to help expecting couples, by offering her hypnobirthing services.

Lindsey Fake, is a primary teacher and a hypnobirthing practitioner, a role which perhaps many are unfamiliar with. Operating in Leeds and North Yorkshire, Lindsey is trying to raise awareness for the practice and runs her own service preparing expecting couples for birth.

Lindsey told us: “I was terrified of giving birth before I had my daughter. Stories people told me, TV and social media all struck a chord of fear deep inside which cast a shadow over my pregnancy. How could a baby exit my body out of such a small space?

“A friend told me about hypnobirthing, and I must admit, I first though it was a bit weird and my husband was sceptical. I knew I had to do something, so we eventually went along to a group course and I’ve been hooked ever since.”

What can a hypnobirthing course offer you?
My hypnobirthing course is fun, empowering and eye opening. I teach you the tools and techniques you need to eliminate fear and anxiety and prepare for a confident, calm and comfortable birth using evidence based practices. Birth partners find it extremely logical and useful as they learn to support their partners through labour effectively and feel confident being their partner’s advocate. Couples are given the knowledge and understanding to make informed decisions about their birth. Should you decide to birth in a hospital setting, you will learn how to navigate the NHS system and how to best manage your environment to suit your birth circumstance. You learn the ins and outs of what is happening when and tools to deal with everything as it happens!

What do you get for your money?
This programme is a fully comprehensive birth preparation course. Each couples course is 10 hours over 4 sessions. Hypnobirthing clients will receive a course book and MP3s to support their practice as well as continued online support. Not to mention the goodie bag! There are bespoke full private courses and intensive day courses available to suit your needs. A positive birth experience is worth the time and money investment. As well as meeting other parents, there’s a lovely, friendly coffee morning every month for past and present clients to socialise and catch up.

Who is it for?
Whether you are first time parents or fifth time parents and however and where ever you decide to birth your baby, hypnobirthing is for you.
